Oklahoma Delegation Attends AMA Annual Meeting

The AMA Annual Meeting was held in Chicago June 23 – 27. During the meeting, the AMA House of Delegates adopted new policies on topics such as health courts, pay for performance, tiered and narrow physician networks, access to emergency contraception, among others. OSMA was represented by 8 Delegates and 4 Alternate Delegates, which included: Jack J. Beller, MD; Jay A. Gregory, MD; Mary Anne McCaffree, MD (Vice-Chair); W. H. Oehlert, MD; W. Frank Phelps, MD; Bruce L. Storms, MD (Chair); Jennifer Trottman, MD; Robert J. Weedn, MD; Julie Hager, MD; Diane Heaton, MD; David Russell, MD and Dana Stone, MD. OSMA Staff attending the meeting included Ken King, CAE, Executive Director, Kathy Musson, CAE, Associate Executive Director and Arnora Parish, Director of Finance.

In conjunction with the AMA House of Delegates, other Sections and Special Groups met to discuss a wide variety of issues. Oklahoma was represented by the following Specialty Society Delegates: Norman Dunitz, MD – American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons; Jane Fitch, MD – American Society of Anesthesiologists; Jean Forsberg, MD – College of American Pathologists; Mayo Gilson, MD – American College of Physician Execs; and Robert McCaffree, MD – American College of Chest Physicians.

Representatives from Oklahoma who attended the AMA Medical Student Section (MSS) were Jordon Paslay, MS II and Kaylan Lawson, MS II. M. Dewayne Andrews, MD also attended the Section on Medical Schools (SMS). AMA Resident and Fellows Section (RFS) Delegates from Oklahoma were Douglas Che Miller, MD and Jeffrey Sparling, MD and Oklahomans who attended the Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS) were Jay A. Gregory, MD and Matt Ivory, MD

Attending the AMA Alliance Annual Meeting form Oklahoma were Ruth Beller, Blair Brockman, Barbara Jett, Keith Oehlert, Marty Laughlin, and Ashlie Schooler.

The Oklahoma Delegation submitted 4 resolutions which were considered during the meeting.
